An extrodinary person passed away on June 16, 2015. Professionally during his 84 years Jim was a naval aviator, mining engineer, air show pilot and, at age 60, started his career as an aerial photographer. For the next two dozen years he flew photo missions all over the North America from the high arctic to Central America. His first book, America - Flying High, was translated into 12 languages. Leave No Trace - The Vanishing of North American Wilderness is inspirational. Five of his images were chosen as US Postal Service Earthscape Forever stamps.
Throughout his life he was a patient, encouraging mentor to everyone who came looking for advice on aviation, photography and backcounry flying. Please visit his website, AirphotoNA, for his moving images and American Society of Media Photographers for their 'Best of 2012' interview.
