Churchill Last year we missed the polar bears. This time the trip to the dump paid off. |

Weather stopped us in Kugluktuk. When we got to the hotel it was locked up. The RCMP helped us find the Westwoods. Mary (2nd from L) has been the postmistress for 18 yrs. |

Weather stopped us in Nome. We had the paperwork to fly the newly established VFR route to Provideniya Russia.

Contrary to rumor, these are not the Nome pilots who tried to make the trip in spite of the weather. |

Mt. McKinley For John it was a homecoming as he had made two trips to Talkeetna to climb the highest peak in North America. On the second attempt he summitted. |

Bush pilot legend, Don Sheldon's restored Super Cub. It was his book, WAGER WITH THE WIND, that got me wanting to go to the arctic. |

This summer's fire season was about average. Often viability was down to 3 miles west of Fairbanks. |
