Mid-Atlantic haze and the threat of thunderstorms caused us to stop early in Teterboro. We found a hotel and decided to see if we could get tickets for a show.

Ellis Island - Where the Healy's arrived from Ireland in the mid-1800's.

Further north, the Empire State Building and Madison Square Garden (the round building below and to the right of the Emp St Buld)

North of the Geo. Washington Bridge you fly over Yonkers to Long Island Sound. Here is SUNY Maritime College under the Throgg's Neck Bridge

The New York State University system renovated the 1845 Fort Schuyler built to protect NYC from the East. It now holds most of the maritime school's class rooms.

Across Long Island Sound is the US Merchant Marine Academy on the grounds of the former Chrysler estate.

The Academy's sailing program is based in the building at the head of their harbor.

Further up the Sound are these homes overlooking Manhasset Bay.

Optimist sailing from the Junior Clubs at Knickerbocker and Manhasset Bay Yacht Clubs.

Along the northern shore of Long Island Sound

Rain and low ceilings forced us to stop at Tweed Airport in New Haven. After a long lunch we took off over Yale University en enroute to Burlington Vermont.
